In 6-1 vote back in July 2016, the San Diego Unified Port District board decided to focus on Protea Waterfront Development’s proposal to convert 70 acres of prime waterfront property into a proposed $ 1.2 billion mix of hotels, shops and restaurants, a beach, aquarium and 480-foot observation tower called “The Spire.”

The board did not fully approve Protea’s project yet but what is certain is that they will not consider any other projects (6 proposals from different developers where presented) so they are working with Protea exclusively to fine tune the details of their proposed project before granting them final approval.

Seaport Village is located right next to the Marina and Columbia (Waterfront) Districts so this is great news for residents of building’s in these neighborhoods. Explore more Marina District Condos or Columbia (Waterfront) Condos.
